Sonos gets Spotify

Sonos has announced that all of its users will be able to stream music from a Spotify Premium account.
The move will please music lovers everywhere that have been crying out for this integration since Spotify launched and quickly proved itself as the best subscription streaming music service available.
Sonos users will get a free software upgrade at the end of September, which will enable Spotify support. Once users provide their login details, Spotify can be searched by artist, album and track name from any Sonos Controller.
Best of all, tracks from Spotify can be added to regular Sonos playlists, allowing users to mix and match music stored on the local network and over the internet. In addition, all Spotify playlists, including those shared by friends, will be available.
As Sonos systems can support up to 32 players on a single network, it's possible to stream up to 32 tracks live from Spotify. However, at 320Kbit/s per track, you'd need 10.24Mbit/s download speeds to do this.
While Spotify can be used using the original Controller, the click-wheel CR100, the best results are from touchscreen devices including the CR200 and app for iPhone and iPod touch. However, possibly the easiest method is the new iPad application.
Using the iPad's high resolution, the interface fits more comfortably on the screen, plus introduces some new features including the ability to drag and drop tracks into the 'now playing' area or current music queue. As with previous apps the iPad Controller will be free and available from the Apple App Store in late September.
We're getting an early look at the system in action, so come back soon for our full review of the Spotify service on Sonos soon.
