Jaguar demos new XJ 2010 sound system

CES 2010: We caught up with Matt Jones, Jaguar's Chief Audio Engineer, to talk about the sound system in the new Jaguar XJ 2010. It's difficult to show how the sound system works on video, but we spent some time listening to the sound system in the car's four main seats.
On the whole, we were impressed by what we heard across a wide range of CD-quality tracks. The sound was crisp, accurate and awe-inspiring, but our demo was done without the car engine running.
Given that the top of the range Jaguar XJ 2010 includes a 510bhp 5.0-litre super-charged engine under the bonnet, we're going to have to wait and see how the audio system performs in a variety of situations with the engine running.
We're quietly confident though given the Bowers & Wilkins sound system's impressive specs. With 20 speakers pushing out 1,200W of power via 15 amplifier channels, there's not just a lot of power under the bonnet. What impressed us was how clear and accurate tracks stayed even with the volume turned right up.
Jones said it was important to balance the two and that's something we're eagerly looking forward to checking that out ahead of the XJ 2010's March launch.
Check out how Jaguar worked with Bowers & Wilkins to integrate the sound system into the new XJ 2010 in the video!
