Warner to pull music from Spotify?
Posted on 11 Feb 2010 at 13:00
According to the BBC, Warner Music is concerned that it isn't earning enough revenue from music streaming services such as Spotify. The popular streaming service lets you listen to as much music as you like. There's a free, ad-supported version as well as a paid-for, ad-free subscription service which costs £10 per month.
Warner appears to be concerned that the vast majority of Spotify listeners aren't paying up and are sticking with the free version instead.
Spotify has attempted to reassure its users and has stated that Warner is not withdrawing its music. In a Tweet, Spotify stated that Warner's concerns have been taken out of context. When contacted for clarification, Spotify's communications manager, Jim Butcher, simply stated that "WMG [Warner Music Group] is not pulling out of its current agreement with Spotify in Europe".
