Clever Cache 6 Pro is a suite of tools that dynamically manages your PC's memory.

Once installed, it runs in the background, quietly going about its business while you get on with your work. It manipulates the contents of the Windows cache to preserve as much free memory as possible. Clever Cache 6 Professional is really easy to use and most users should find there is little need to delve into the specific tools.

If you want, you can create custom profiles to fine-tune things. This gives you complete control over the size of cache, the ability to dictate how your main memory should be managed and to regulate the interval between cache backups. Other fine-tuning tools allow you to balance processor workloads, as well as some further basic memory and file-management tweaks.

Applications of this nature live or die on the performance boost they provide. We used the Shopper benchmarks to put Clever Cache 6 Pro through its paces. The test system managed an Overall score of 57 without having Clever Cache installed. With Clever Cache running this rose to 58, which is a little under a two per cent increase. This was a disappointing result, especially considering that you could buy an extra 1GB of memory for your PC or laptop for under £20, and this would provide a larger performance boost in most applications.

In spite of our benchmark result, Clever Cache did seem to make our ageing test PC behave a little snappier. If you want to get the best performance out of your computer without opening the the case, or you have no free memory slots, Clever Cache 6 Pro could be the answer.
