Bento bonds with iPhoto
Posted on 30 Sep 2009 at 10:23
Filemaker has unveiled Bento 3, the latest version of its personal database software and the first to integrate with iPhoto, so you can store more info about your photos and link them to contacts, projects, events and other information stored in Bento.
Bento 3 also provides new ways to share your information with other Bento users. Just as you can share iTunes and iPhoto over your local network, you can now share Bento libraries with up to five users, knowing that with the option to encrypt any field and assign passwords your data is secure.
Databases can be set up using 35 pre-designed templates, which include 10 new layouts for popular uses such wine collecting, job hunting, home searching and holiday planning. In addition, the recently launched Bento Template Exchange provides hundreds of downloadable templates designed by Bento users.
Bento 3 also has a new Grid option for viewing your data, whether photos, text or numeric, as thumbnails. Thumbnails are also shown in File Lists, which were previously text only.
Bento 3 costs at £29.95 or £59.95 for a family pack of five licences and for a limited time FileMaker is offering a £10 rebate to existing users of Bento 1 and Bento 2. Anyone who purchased Bento 2 between 30 August 2009 and 14 October 2009 is eligible to receive Bento 3 for free.
A 30-day trial version is also available.
FileMaker is preparing an update Bento for iPhone and iPod touch which will fix compatibility problems related to Bento 3 for Mac and will be available soon. Current users of Bento for iPhone and iPod touch will see a notification on their device when the free update is available for download.
