DXG announces budget 3D camcorder

Budget manufacturer DXG is looking to bring 3D film-making into the home with the announcement of a consumer-level 3D camcorder.
Previewed over onTWICE,
the DXG-321 features a pair of lenses designed to capture two distinct video streams, allowing 3D video to be captured on a budget.
Compatible with "most" 3D TV systems - including those that rely on both polarised glasses and active-shutter technology - the video taken by the display gives a sense of depth, although the fixed position of the lenses may make this less convincing than a profession-grade system which allows the focal point to be shifted.
While 3D still cameras for home use have been around for many years, 3D video cameras still remain the playthings of the rich and famous.
The DXG-321, however, is aiming for a $600 (around £390) price tag, bringing the technology into the reach of the home user - albeit one with a reasonable amount of disposable income.
If you haven't got a 3D TV just yet, the DXG-321 comes with a bundled glasses-free 7" viewer which accepts the SD card from the camera - although it doesn't include an HDMI output, sadly.
Although the current generation of the hardware is restricted to standard-definition video due to its VGA-resolution sensors, the company has stated that it plans to follow the DXG-321 with a high-definition version before the end of the year. So far there's no indication of when - or if - the device will hit the UK.
