Sony working on new camcorder with interchangeable lenses
Posted on 11 May 2010 at 14:28
Sony has announced that it is working on a new AVCHD high definition camcorder with an interchangeable lens system.
Panasonic was the first company to announce it was working on such a system, but its AG-AF100 is aimed at professionals rather than consumers. Sony appears to be targeting the high-end consumer market with its own incarnation.
Details are short at the moment, but a blog post on Sony Style said that it would be equipped with the same "Exmor" APS HD CMOS sensor that is used in Sony's new NEX mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.
Sony also says that the new camcorder will be compatible with E Mount, which have been developed for the new NEX-series cameras, and the A Mount lenses designed for the existing Alpha DSLR range via an adaptor.
The camera will be available later this year, said the blog post.
