Audi has confirmed that just 19 of its planned 333 production A1 Quattro Limited Editions will be making it to the UK, with ordering due to open next month.
Featuring a 2.0-litre TFSI engine offering 256PS at 6,000rpm and peak torque of 350Nm between 2,500 and 4,500rpm, the limited-edition A1 Quattro boasts the ability to hit 62mph from a standing start in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 152mph. Fuel economy is rated at 32.8mpg in the combined cycle, while carbon dioxide emissions have been measured at 199g per kilometre driven.
Despite orders not officially opening until March, Audi confirms that it has taken deposits for several of the limited-edition left-hand drive examples of the A1 Quattro, leaving those looking for the company's top-end model scrambling to enter the queue.
Based on the standard A1, the 256PS limited edition boasts a larger engine adopted from the TTS and rally-inspired styling, Audi claims that the extremely exclusive vehicle boasts equipment upgrades totalling a value of over £11,000.
Compared to the standard A1, more than 600 components have either been reworked or entirely replaced, Audi claims. The A1 Quattro features a quick-shifting six-speed manual transmission to the permanent all-wheel drive system, the heart of which is an electronically-controlled hydraulically actuated multi-plate clutch.
Externally, the A1 Quattro boasts a Glacier White metallic paint finish with matching 18in turbine-design alloy wheels, a high-gloss black roof with prominent spoiler and deep-set bumpers with 100mm tailpipes at the rear. Inside, multi-adjustable Silk Nappa leather S-sport seats dominate, while the dashboard features white needles, a red-faced rev counter and a flat-bottomed multi-function sports steering wheel.
Previously optional features now included as standard range from xenon plus headlights with high-beam assistance and adaptive brake lights to an LED-based interior lighting package, light and rain sensors, acoustic rear parking system, automatic air conditioning, a storage package, Audi's convenience key and cruise control.
Audi's order books officially open in March, with the first examples due to hit the UK in the second half of this year. Pricing has been set at £41,020.
