Fuji launches rugged XP30 camera

Fuji's latest compact camera, the rugged XP30, has officially launched in the UK, offering photographers a shock-proof camera for when they're out and about.
The camera's specifications are impressive for its size, with a 14 megapixel sensor taking high-resolution images behind a 5x optical zoom lens which cleverly stays nearly flush with the body in order to reduce the possibility of lens damage if the unit is dropped. As well as stills, the camera can take 720p high-definition video at thirty frames per second.
To round out the feature set, and to help the camera appeal to the adventurous type, Fuji has included an integrated GPS receiver. This allows the camera to automatically record location and 'geotag' photos with either the precise longitude and latitude or a place name from its internal database.
It's the casing of the camera that makes it stand out from the crowd, however. Fuji claims that the rugged design means that it is dust proof, shock proof from a drop of up to 1.5 metres, water proof to a depth of 5 metres, and able to operate in temperatures of up to minus five degrees Celsius - a feature set that Fuji hopes will appeal to the adventuring casual photographer.
Available in five difference colours - black, silver, orange, blue, and green - the camera launches today in the UK priced at £199.
