FSP Silent Solution Kit review

Verdict:

Review Date: 15 Mar 2004

Price when reviewed: inc VAT

Our Rating 4 stars out of 5

This kit consists of a 350W power supply, AMD processor fan and 90mm case fan, all designed for quiet operation.

The power supply has plenty of connectors for powering drives and includes a Serial ATA (SATA) power connector, but only one for floppy disk drives. This will be a problem if you've got a Creative Audigy Platinum sound card or an ATI graphics card using these power connectors, though converters are available. The processor fan is rated for processors up to an Athlon XP 3000+, and a Pentium 4 version is available. Fan noise was reduced on our test PC, though it revealed the previously masked hard disk noise. Still, a cost-effective upgrade for a quiet life.
