Fuji announces FinePix S2800HD, the world's smallest 18x zoom camera

To follow up on its announcement of the FinePix F300EXR with 15x optical zoom lens, Fuji has today released details of what it is claiming is the worlds' smallest 18x optical zoom lens camera - the FinePix S2800HD.
Featuring a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 28mm to 504mm, the 18x Fujinon lens promises to snap clear shots of your subject matter - regardless of how near or far it may be - with the help of the camera's 14 megapixel CCD sensor.
The DSLR-like design of the S2800HD includes a 3in LCD display on the back, while offering all the features expected of a high-end point and shoot - including tracking auto-focus, face detection with blink detection and smile modes, automatic scene recognition, an automatic panorama mode, and a sensor to automatically rotate images where required.
Fuji has also added a video recording mode, which records in part-HD 720p resolution. Strangely, a 1080p mode is included - but only for still images, which represents a significant quality loss over shooting in the camera's native 14 megapixel resolution. A mini-HDMI port is included on the camera, and allows still images and video to be played back via any HDTV without the need for additional accessories.
Sadly, while Fuji has been kind enough to release details of the camera's specifications, it has been less forthcoming with an expected launch date or pricing.
