Panasonic to add HD video for next DSLR
Posted on 26 Feb 2009 at 10:52
We got our hands on the successor to Panasonic's diminutive DMC-G1 DSLR.
As yet, there's no model name confirmed, but the new model will follow the lead of other DSLRs such as Nikon's D90 by allowing users to record HD video.
As this is a non-working prototype, details were sketchy, but it's likely that video will be recorded in the same AVCHD Lite format as the company's latest range of Lumix compact cameras. This has a 720p resolution and records much higher quality audio than most current compact digital cameras. The new stereo microphone can be clearly seen in front of the hot-shoe in our photo above.
Other than the new video mode little else will change in the new model. We'll bring you a full review as soon as review models are available.
