Despite the V550's undeniable strengths, competition is extremely tough

Our Rating
Kodak's £99 EasyShare Picture Viewer (left) aims to make showing your shots easier. Unfortunately, it doesn't share the same wide viewing angles as the V550 and it's noticeably smaller. All the same, the device is likeable enough, at roughly credit-card-sized and 12mm thick. Like the V550 it can be connected directly to an optional Kodak Printer Dock for postcard-sized prints, but internal capacity is limited to the same 32MB memory as the camera. And, bizarrely, the viewer wouldn't play back the Mpeg-4 movies from the V550. As a viewing device the Picture Viewer seems like over-indulgence, and as an image bank for use in the field, it's hampered by a lack of memory. If it used just 1GB of flash memory, then users would have a handy storage unit.
