Apple ships MacBook-friendly LED display

Apple has begun taking orders for the new 24in Cinema Display unveiled last month.
The display boasts a 1920x1200 widescreen LED panel and has a built-in iSight video camera, mic and speakers in a thin aluminium and glass enclosure.
Apple’s first external display to use low-power LED technology was introduced at the same time as the unibody MacBooks, with which it shares Apple’s new Mini DisplayPort interface.
Part of the next generation DisplayPort industry standard, the new interface delivers a pure digital signal that can drive up to a 30in widescreen display and comes as standard on the new MacBooks, 15in MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
The new Cinema Display boast a 1920x1200 widescreen panel and has a built-in iSight video camera, mic and speakers in a thin aluminium and glass enclosure.
It also sports three USB 2.0 ports and a MagSafe charging port. The idea is that you can leave peripherals such as a printer, camera, iPhone or iPod dock connected and simply hook up your MacBook to gain access to them all, charging the notebook at the same time.
The 24in Cinema Display replaces the 23in LCD model, but the 20in and 30in LCDs are still available.
