Samsung LE26R51BD review
Samsung's 26" HD TV possesses stunning good looks and oozed quality from the moment we extricated it from its packaging.
The straightforward setup routine soon found all the available digital and analogue TV channels. TV broadcasts were slightly lacking in detail, but this was due to the digital picture processing, which did manage to rid the poor-quality TV signals of lots of noise. An excellent seven-day EPG makes it easy to find programmes to watch. The menu system is superbly intuitive and easy to navigate, and provides a comprehensive set of picture-tweaking options.
The Samsung LE26R51BD's true qualities shine through with DVDs and HD material. We were stunned by the sharp, vibrant images it produced, and our Spider-Man 2 video oozed detail. HD movie clips were even more impressive; the Samsung LCD TV unearthed impressive amounts of fine detail with strong contrast and bright, realistic colours.
Connecting a PC via the VGA input proved easy, and with a brilliantly crisp 1,360x768 native resolution it looked great, too. Games showed no sign of blurring. The screen's superb picture quality made everything we put through it look truly stunning. The speakers are a bit disappointing, though. They produced a crisp treble, but were slightly lacking in bass. Still, for the money, the LE26R51BD provides incredible performance across the board.
