Our Rating
CDs and DVDs may look tough, but give discs enough abuse and you'll have trouble reading your data.
Data on a CD or DVD is stored just below the label on the upper side of the disc. Most damage to the bottom prevents you reading this data, rather than destroying it. SkipDr Advanced works by gently grinding down the clear plastic bottom layer. This creates a smooth surface, so it's easier for the drive to read.
We found it reduced skipping errors on old audio CDs and DVDs. It won't save badly damaged discs or those with damage to the label side, but if you have a roughly handled collection of discs that need a new lease of life, SkipDr is worth the money.
