Apple tablet to be announced alongside iPhone OS 4.0, says report

Apple's much rumoured tablet will be announced alongside iPhone OS 4.0 and the new 2010 version of iLife at an event in San Francisco next week, according to a report on Fox News.
Fox claims that the event will focus on three products: the tablet, iPhone OS 4.0 and iLife 2010.
"I spoke to a source at Apple this morning, before the invite [to the event] hit my inbox, who said the event would likely focus on three projects: The tablet device, iPhone 4, and a new round of iLife 2010 software," said Fox reporter Clayton Morris. "While we won't see new iPhone hardware just yet, we will see the next-generation software."
Apple sent out invites to its event yesterday afternoon, which will be held at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco on 27 January. The firm used the tagline "Come see our latest creation" to invite members of the American press to the event.
In related news, the Wall Street Journal says that HarperCollins Publishers has been in talks with Apple to strike a deal on the sale of e-books for the rumoured tablet device. HarperCollins isn't the only publisher that Apple has been in talks with though, said the sources cited by the paper.
According to WSJ, details of the deal "haven't been ironed out yet" and it's not clear whether Apple will sell the e-books through its iTunes store or via a new store specifically for e-books.
I guess the rumours will continue to rumble on until minutes before Fruit Messiah Steve Jobs walks out on stage.
