ViewSonic launches two eBook readers

ViewSonic - a company better known for its displays - has launched its first entries into the eReader market with the VEB620 and VEB625 e-book readers.
As revealed over on MaximumPC,
the two devices are very similar in specifications - a six-inch E-ink display makes up the viewing area on both along with an integral speaker for the included MP3 support - plus a 3.5mm headphone jack if you'd prefer to listen to your audiobooks or music in private.
Both units feature 2GB of internal storage space, along with an SDHC card slot if you run out. Various formats are supported including the popular ePub format along with HTML, PDF, TXT, RTF, and FB2 - although there's no mention as to whether Adobe's Digital Editions DRM is supported, which is a requirement for many commercial ebooks.
In an interesting departure from the norm, ViewSonic has seen fit to include an accelerometer sensor into the eReaders which allows pages to be turned by simply shaking the unit and provides an easy switch from portrait to landscape mode by simply turning the device.
The VEB625 extends the features of its cheaper brother by adding in-built WiFi networking along with an integrated touch-screen, allowing annotations to be made on the go either as freehand notes or via an on-screen keyboard.
Sadly, ViewSonic has yet to announce pricing or an idea of when UK customers will be able to get their hands on either model, although both are available for viewing on the company's website.
