Not only does Freecom's 1TB Hard Drive have plenty of storage space, it also looks and feels well built thanks to its sturdy metal case and blue status light.
It came near the top of the table in almost all our file transfer tests, falling behind the other disks in our round-up only when reading small files.
The bundled NTI Shadow backup software can either back up your files automatically in the background as you work or at certain times of the day according to your own schedule. It can even retain older versions of your files in case you accidentally delete an important file or change something you wish you hadn't. The interface is a little cluttered, but overall it's one of the better bundled backup programs here.
Freecom's 1TB Hard Drive costs just 10p per gigabyte, which makes it an excellent choice if you want lots of storage space without spending a lot of money. Unless you need RAID support or an interface that's faster than USB, it's the best desktop disk in this group, and wins a Best Buy award.
