Serial dieters or keep-fit fanatics will find this very useful and it looks great too

The WiFi Body Scale is designed to measure your weight and fat mass, using your height measurement to calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI). It’s a slim, stylish slab with a glass top and a small LCD screen.

Setup is fairly simple, requiring connection to your PC via a USB cable and a visit to Withings’ website, where you register your details and find your personal account page. After that, the Body Scale automatically uploads data to the website via its wireless connection.

The site contains lots of tips for getting correct measurements – the time of day you weigh yourself is important, for example – and it graphs all your measurements on a timeline. You can set goals and input measurements manually, and add more users: the Body Scale claims to recognise different people, but based on our tests we’d say it just guesses based on the last weight measurement. You can also monitor your results via an iPhone app.

It’s an expensive gadget if you’re just worried about your weight, but for serial dieters or keep-fit fanatics it’s very useful and looks great too.
