The kettle that twitters when it's boiling
Posted on 7 Apr 2010 at 17:55
Tired of sitting around waiting for your kettle to click off once it's boiled? Well, you're in luck, as a new kettle will tweet you when it's ready.
Designed by Ben Perman and Murat Multu on a drunken night out, the Twettle (really) was conceived as a way for modern hardware to interact with social media networks.
The reason for it, is simply to make money, as Multu explains on his website, "I suggested to Ben that we needed to exploit some trends while we had the chance, number one on the list – Twitter."
The Twettle is designed to connect to a wireless network. It has a temperature sensor that monitors the water: one it's boiling a tweet is sent to let you, and anyone else following your kettle for that matter, know.
The duo are now hoping for an initial investment of around £40,000 and hope to sell the kettles for around £75 a pop.
