Buy your games and movies from a vending machine

Customers could be buying their new games and movies from vending machines, rather than retail stores, with the launch of the new POP machine. The vending machines will be cropping up across the country's cinemas, universities and shopping centres, offering the newest video games and DVD and Blu-Ray video releases.
Using an interactive touch screen, customers can select the movie or game they want to buy, swipe their credit or debit card, and the machine supplies the product.
The company also intends to introduce a download function to the machines later this month. The feature will give customers the option to download film and music direct from POP machines onto their media players, memory cards, USB sticks or phones in WMA, WMV or MP3 format files.
POP claims the process will be quick and easy, with music downloads taking "a few seconds and movies a few minutes".
"[During trials] customers have told us they love the instant purchasing gratification of POP - it enables them to update their DVD collection whenever they feel like it, in a fun and modern way, at their convenience," said Rachel Wilkinson, head of POP.
"Customers are already savvy to downloading and purchasing entertainment from the internet and are really excited at the possibility of downloading product outside of the home at a POP machine."
The machines will stock more than 100 different titles including Mamma Mia!, Hancock, The Incredible Hulk, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Hellboy II and Casino Royale.
