Microsoft launches Xbox Live Rewards pilot programme
Posted on 5 Nov 2009 at 09:18
Microsoft has unveiled its Club Nintendo-like rewards pilot programme for Xbox Live users, known as Xbox Live Rewards Squad. The programme is invite only, with the first users receiving their invitations on 2 November. The programme will continue until the end of April 2010.
Xbox Live Rewards Squad will hand out rewards to both Silver and Gold-tier users, with a heavy weighting in favour of the latter, who will be rewarded for simply renewing their subscription to the premium service.
Renewing your Xbox Live Gold account will earn you 10 Microsoft points per month renewed, up to a maximum of 60 Microsoft points. A twelve month renewal will net 200 Microsoft points, but Xbox Live Silver upgraders will not be rewarded for upgrading to Gold.
The firm is also offering incentives to buy items from the Xbox Live Marketplace, with both Gold and Silver members getting 100 Microsoft points for their first XBLM purchase. In addition to that, Gold subscribers will get one per cent of their purchases during the first month, two per cent in the second month, three in the third, four in the fourth and five per cent in the fifth and sixth months of the pilot programme.
You can find out more on the offical Xbox Live Rewards page.
