Grand Theft Auto arrives on the iPhone

The latest Grand Theft Auto game, Chinatown Wars, has arrived on the iPhone and iPod touch.
Although Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has been available for the Nintendo DS since March 2009, and for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) since October 2009, it has only just been released for the iPhone and iPod touch.
The iPhone version is noticeably cheaper though at £5.99, whereas the DS version costs £18 from play.com while the PSP version costs £21 from mymemory.co.uk.
While the iPhone version has similar touchscreen controls to the DS version, developers Rockstar has yet to confirm whether the iPhone version also has multiplayer and the ability to use the microphone during gameplay.
The Grand Theft Auto series is renowned for its gameplay involving carjacking and other acts of criminality. Parents concerned about their kiddies engaging in virtual triad warfare on the new iPod touch they just received for Christmas can use Apple's parental controls to restrict access to the game, or indeed the entire App Store itself, from the Settings application.
