Steam server update kicks out gamers and takes service offline
Posted on 4 Mar 2010 at 22:19
Steam has upset its users with a scheduled service update that has kicked users out of games and made online multiplayer games impossible.
"We'll be updating some of the Steam servers today around 14:00 PST (GMT-0800). Chat, game lobbies, and the community web site will be affected. Content downloads and game play should not be affected," said the official forum post.
Unfortunately, game play was affected for many people.
"Great... I was in the middle of a nice multiplayer game and it kicked me off," wrote on user on Steam's official forum.
It's not the first time that Steam's gone down for maintenance. Last month the company took its servers down for three hours for scheduled maintenance, leaving its users unable to play some multiplayer games, such as Modern Warfare 2 or Left4Dead2.
