Alone In The Dark review
This adaptation of the well-established Atari title can be added to the long list of unsuccessful movies based on games.
Alone In The Dark seems to have all the ingredients of a cult hit - brooding hero, mysterious artefacts, scary monsters - but director Uwe Boll manages to combine these elements into a stodgy mess of a horror thriller, with crashingly dull effects and plotlines that go nowhere. As supernatural investigator Edward Carnby, Christian Slater searches for the truth behind some spooky goings-on armed with little more than a blank look, while co-stars Tara Reid and Stephen Dorff look as if they're not quite sure where they are. Boll provides a manic commentary and the disc also includes a few routine featurettes.
