Capcom says "Evil is watching" when Resident Evil Revelations 2 launches in early 2015

Capcom has announced Resident Evil Revelations 2 at Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference. Due to be released in Japan in early 2015, the game is a follow-up to the excellent 3DS game (and not so-great console and PC port), Resident Evil Revelations.

Capcom did not reveal how the latest entry in its long-running horror franchise would be related to its predecessor, but it did say that Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine would not return as the main playable protagonists. Instead, Revelations 2 will focus on a fresh cast of characters and feature a new setting.

The game was teased via a short live-action trailer showing a young girl running through a crowd of healthy citizens wearing green wristbands. This eventually changed into a crowd of zombies, all of which were wearing red wristbands. The trailer ended with the tagline “Evil is Watching”. You can watch the trailer in full below:

No platforms were announced during the conference, but considering it was shown off during Sony’s pre-TGS conference, we’d say that the PS4 and even the PS3 were likely contenders, as well as Xbox One and Xbox 360 after an image of the game’s Xbox 360 box cover was leaked ib Xbox.com in late August. We expect to hear more when the game becomes available to play at the Tokyo Game Show, which starts in a few weeks time on September 18th 2014.

When we reviewed the HD remake of Resident Evil Revelations for Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, we said it was one of the better Resident Evil titles in recent years that favoured suspense-driven horror over the more recent action-orientated focus of Resident Evil 5 and 6. However, as it was a remake of a 3DS game, the console port still carried the tell-tale signs of being developed for a handheld system, earning it a good, but not spectacular 3/5 stars.
