JavaScript: The Definitive Guide review
JavaScript is often dismissed as just another scripting language, but it is actually a powerful and complex language.
Author David Flanagan does it justice in describing its strong points, its subtleties and its straightforward logic. Sometimes the books efforts to cover absolutely everything are irritating, but as Javascript is an under-documented language it deserves this comprehensive treatment.
Flanagan does a good job of demystifying JavaScript, even if he is obsessive in places. The coverage of Ajax methods is a bit thin, and a large reference section is mostly a waste of paper. Overall, however, this book is well worth buying if you want to take JavaScript seriously.
