CES 2007: Belkin launches universal notebook dock
Posted on 10 Jan 2007 at 01:49
Belkin has launched its universal notebook dock, the Notebook Expansion Dock, which is the first product available to connect via ExpressCard, the PCI Express replacement for the PC Card.
ExpressCard has several advantages over PC Card including much faster transfer rates - up to 2Gbps. It's this faster transfer rate that lets the Notebook Expansion Dock have a DVI output that can output DVD video and Windows resolutions of up to 1,600x1,200 in 32bit colour. USB notebook docks with video outputs have only provided low-quality images.
The dock also has 5.1 audio (optical and analogue), five USB2 ports and a 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet port.
The Notebook Expansion Dock has a suggested price of $200 (£105 approximately) in the US and requires a notebook with an ExpressCard slot.
