Shape adds Skype to iPhone

iPhone users can now make Skype calls. A firm that specialises in messaging software for mobile devices has introduced a version of its IM+ for Skype software that runs within Safari on the Apple handset.
The German developer, Shape Services, says that the application has been designed especially for iPhone's touch screen and "complements the design and interface of Apple's masterpiece".
The software used SkypeOut credits for voice calls and supports both Skype Unlimited and Skype Pro plans for low-cost calling to any computer running Skype or any landline or mobile number. iPhone users simply log onto skypeforiphone.com using the Safari browser.
"Noticing the public interest for Skype on iPhone, we decided to use our mobile IM and mobile Skype experience and develop an application for them; this has also been a move towards our IM+ for Skype platform coverage," said said Igor Berezovsky, Shape Services' CEO. "It is truly easy and convenient to access and use. We are looking forward to hearing some feedback from iPhone users. No tweaks are necessary."
IM+ for Skype is also available for BlackBerry, Pocket PC, Palm OS, Symbian and J2ME devices. The application works on any network and doesn't require Wi-Fi.
iPhone will be released in the UK later this year.
