Microsoft launches Kinect tour
Posted on 3 Aug 2010 at 10:33
Microsoft has announced that its Kinect motion-sensing game controller for the Xbox 360 - previously known as Project Natal - will be touring the UK, allowing eager gamers to try the technology out first-hand.
The device will be available for the public to play on at the Kinect Galleries in Covent Garden, London, and another unit at the Alton Towers theme park in Staffordshire. A third unit is due to appear at London Zoo on the 7th of August, while Chessington World of Adventures gets one on October the 21st. The last confirmed appearance is at Birmingham NEC on December the 2nd to coincide with the Clothes Show.
Microsoft has stated that this is only part of the planned tour, with additional demonstrations to be announced across the UK and Ireland in the coming months.
Owing to the expected high demand - Microsoft's body-tracking Kinect technology is something many gamers feel they need to try out themselves, rather than just watch a video, in order to make their minds up before splashing out £130 for the add-on - Microsoft is asking users to book a time slot on its dedicated Facebook page.
With spaces likely to fill up fast, it's certainly worth checking back regularly for new dates and venues if you're planning on trying out the Kinect controller for yourself.
