Fill in our broadband survey and win a Lenovo laptop
Posted on 31 Mar 2011 at 18:05
We all know that the broadband speeds we pay for and the speeds we get are completely different, but how bad is the problem? That's what we're going to find out with your help. All we need you to do is fill out our five-minute survey and tell us your broadband speed and how good your current provider is.
From the results we'll be able to find out who the UK's best mobile and fixed broadband providers are, and get us all a better deal.
To say thanks for your help, you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 laptop. With it colourful and exciting design, it's a laptop that's as attractive as it is powerful. A 2nd generation Intel Core i3-2310M processor and 4GB of RAM ensure that there's plenty of performance for even the toughest of tasks.
With a 15.6in widescreen display you get a good balance between usability and portability, while a 500GB hard disk gives you plenty of space for all of your documents, photos and videos.
To be in with a chance to win this sleek and stylish notebook you just need to fill out our five minute survey.
If you're using fixed-line broadband at home:
take the Home Broadband Survey
If you're using mobile broadband:
take the Mobile Broadband Survey
Don't forget, if you've got both types of broadband, you can fill in both surveys and double your chances of winning the laptop.

Poor idea - more spam!
It's deplorable that you need to add this to the END of the survey:
'Your personal information will be used as set out in our Privacy Notice www.dennis.co.uk/privacy/. Submitting your details indicates your consent, until you choose otherwise, that we and our partners may contact you about products and services that will be of relevance to you via, direct mail, phone, e-mail and SMS. You can opt-out at ANY time via the web or email.'
I get enough spam thanks. I'm NEVER going to agree to something like this!

Agree on the spam
I agree with you Jaydax - I had exactly the same feelings. I am not naive enough to think magazines dont operate on advertising - but any professional website at least has options to 'opt out' in an easy way. INstead this forces you to accept and somewhow figure out how to follow up later. Very very poor from what I thought was a professional site. Until now.

Apologies
Sorry about the wording in the data protection statement. In this survey all of the fields are optional, but we weren't allowed to put this information in the survey itself.
The statement has been created to run on all Dennis Publishing websites and we have to use it. Comments like this are very helpful and we'll use them to try and push to going back to the old data protection statement, which had opt-out clauses clearly marked.

Salute the response
Well, I may not have expected a sensibly worded and speedy response. So being quick to complain, let me complement you on at least taking the time out to respond. (Most) credibility restored..... thank you.
