UPDATED: Adobe updates Photoshop and Lightroom
Posted on 16 Nov 2007 at 07:18
Downloads websites are reporting the release of a first update to Photoshop CS3, though it has yet to be listed on Adobe's list of updates.
According to the update provides half a dozen significant fixes, namely: the speed of moving objects contained within multiple layer sets has been improved; converting images to CMYK using certain profiles no longer results in black files; the Save for Web feature now includes an option to "Include XMP" (metadata) in the settings menu within the main Save for Web interface, making the existing capability easier to access; when using Save For Web with "Include XMP" enabled, all XMP data is now included in the optimised file; print colour matching has been improved; images saved as DICOM and reopened in Photoshop CS3 are no longer corrupted on PowerPC Macs.
No mention is made of Leopard-specific fixes, and the update is available from VersionTracker.
Likewise a Photoshop Lightroom 1.3 update is available but yet to appear on Adobe's site. The update to the digital darkroom software includes fixes for XMP metadata, printing and RAW compatibility. Adobe has also released a Lightroom Preview Export SDK for developers to create and distribute plug-ins for exporting images.
UPDATE: Adobe's Photoshop team has provided a Printing Notes PDF that details all the printing issues that the update fixes.
