Dell today introduced a new range of 15in notebooks boasting features including a built-in webcam and fingerprint reader to prevent unauthorised access.
The XPS M1530 features a high definition widescreen 15.4in display, slot-loading optical drive, DirectX 10 capable graphics, touch sensitive media buttons and HDMI video-out to HD TVs. It is also undeniably stylish, with a choice of three colours - Tuxedo Black, Crimson Red and Alpine White - with bushed aluminium "accents". The notebook also includes a remote control, neatly stored in the ExpressCard slot and noise cancelation earbuds.
The Intel Core 2 Duo system, with Wi-Fi and up to 2GB of RAM, weighs just just 2.6kg for the basic configuration. Optional extras include a Blu-ray drive, also capable of DVD and CD read-writing, in place of the standard DVD/CD drive, as well as a 64GB solid state drive as an alternative to the 160 or 250GB hard drive.
"The enthusiastic reception of the XPS M1330 demonstrates that Dell's focus on design and performance resonates with customers seeking a premium notebook experience," said Alex Gruzen, Dell's senior vice president, consumer product group. "We're building on that success by broadening the product line, and the XPS M1530 will bring the XPS experience to the most popular 15.4in widescreen market segment."
The Dell XPS M1530 costs from £549 and includes Windows Vista.
