Sony expands DSLR range with A200

Sony has announced a new digital SLR camera in its Alpha range, the A200. This new model is aimed at mainstream users and will expand the company's range to three models, including the entry-level A100 and high-end A700.
The A200 will be compatible with the same range of lenses as the other Alpha cameras, and has a Sony A mount. Sony's DSLR camera division was effectively bought from Konica Minolta and some of the criticisms its first two models encountered were poor ease of use; something the company feels it has addressed this time.
"The A200 will be lighter, faster and easier to use," said Steve Haber, senior vice president for Sony's personal mobile and imaging division. "It will have new, easier menus."
Details are short on the ground at the moment, but the A200 is expected to have a 10.2-megapixel resolution and built-in optical image stabilisation. The camera will be released in the US later this month.
