Maxdata shuts down UK operations

Maxdata has announced that it is closing down its UK subsidiary. The company, which owns the Belinea brand of monitors, recently filed for insolvency proceedings in Germany, but planned to continue trading following extensive restructuring measures.
As a result of the restructuring, sales of Maxdata products in the UK will now be taken on by Maxdata Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg).12 UK-based staff will lose their jobs, with the company considering keeping a solitary salesperson in the country.
"At the moment no [customer contacts will be located in the UK]. There have been suggestions that one of the salespeople currently in the office will be kept on in this position, but this has not been confirmed," explained Charlotte Wicks, marketing executive at Maxdata UK.
The company blamed high pressure of competition and falling prices for its heavily declining financial performance.
