UK's Security Service seeks new Q
Posted on 17 Apr 2009 at 16:20
MI5 is recruiting for a Chief Scientific Advisor, whose role will involve advising on how science and technology can be used to assist field agents.
The two to three day part-time role, as advertised calls for an individual with "world-class scientific expertise", "excellent strategic skills" and "a successful track record of managing critical projects and processes in a complex environment."
MI5 did not confirm or deny that official requirements include familiarity with flame-throwing biros, Aston Martins with ejector seats or personal jet-packs.
Q's pay packet has not been disclosed publically either, although it has been advertised as a "competitive package". MI5's career site does list salaries for intelligence officers and administrative assistants so we know that the modern-day equivalent of James Bond or Miss Moneypenny earn £24,250 and £17,250 respectively.
