Roxio captures Easy route from VHS to Mac
Posted on 26 May 2009 at 12:05
Video digitising kits?€"you wait all year for one to come along and within the space of a few weeks two established Mac developers are offering new ways of converting old footage.
The first of these new hardware-and-software combinations was Elgato Video Capture and now Roxio has unveiled its version, Easy VHS to DVD.
Users simply attach the included USB video capture device to a USB 2.0 port with the supplied cables to capture from virtually any analogue video source. The resulting video files can then be recorded to DVD, complete with a custom menu background and chaptering, using a special version of Roxio Toast (included).
But despite its name, the software does more than DVD. Captured footage can just-as-easily be transferred to iMovie for editing and thence to iTunes, and iPod or iPhone, YouTube and beyond.
Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for Mac is available now for £59.99 and requires a G5 or Intel Mac.
