AppleScript X updated; OmniWeb gets serious; Paris Expo opens its virtual doors; Apple exes on PalmSource board...
Apple has released AppleScript 1.8.3 via the OS X Software Update which, according to the blurb accompanying the download, 'provides increased stability of scripts and script applications, improved Unicode support for text and runs applications created with the latest version of AppleScript Studio.'
The very wonderful OmniGroup has released OmniWeb 4.1, the latest version of what appears to be, if emails to MacUser.co.uk are anything to go by, an increasingly popular OS X browser. Many of the problems associated with OmniWeb in the past - lack of proper Javascript and Flash support for example - now appear to have been solved, and this has developed into an excellent option amongst the increasing ranks of OS X browsers.
Apple Expo Paris, Europe's largest Mac show kicks off on 10 September and you can now register online. The show returns after a one year hiatus, as last year's event was cancelled in the wake of the 11 September attacks.
PalmSource, the operating system and software offshoot of handheld PDA maker Palm, has announced its board of directors and there's room for two Apple old boys: Satjiv S Chahil and Jean-Louis Gassee. Gassee spent nine years at Apple but is perhaps better known as the former chief executive of operating systems developer Be. Palm bought Be last year, but the company had long been seen as a potential Apple acquisition.
