Sony announces new flat panels

Sony has announced a new range of flat-panel, LCD displays.
The X series comprises the 15-inch SDM-X52 (1,024x768 native resolution) and the 18-inch SDM-X82 [pictured] (1,280x1,024 native resolution) with a 17-inch SDM-X72 tipped to make a UK appearance at a future date. Sony's first 20-inch flat panel, the SDM-X202, will be released in the US, although it is unclear when or even if it will make it to the UK. All feature built-in stereo speakers, DVI and analog input and Sony's new Eco Mode button, designed to reduce energy consumption by as much as 20 per cent. The displays are arm- or wall-mountable, as an alternative to sitting them on a desk, and adjustable, though the amount of tilt and swivel varies from model to model.
With the exception of the X202, which comes in either black or silver, the displays will be available in black or two-toned grey.
The displays will be available in the UK in July but pricing has yet to be confirmed. They are compatible with both Mac and PC platforms.
