Panasonic roadshow showcases 3D home cinema across UK

Panasonic is launching a Full HD 3D Roadshow beginning in October, which will showcase the 3D home cinema experience directly to consumers.

Three mobile Full HD 3D theatres will visit shopping centres and other locations, allowing consumers to get a preview of the 3D content that's currently available as well as the technology that Panasonic is developing to bring Full HD 3D cinema to the living room.

The demo kit will include Panasonic's specially modified Blu-ray player which is able to send two Full HD video streams on a standard HDMI cable to a specially adapted plasma TV which can process 120 frames per second. You'll wear shutter glasses to view the screen - these blank out each eye in time with the frames shown on screen, so the left eye only sees half of the 120 frames, while the right eye only sees the other half. This 'fools' the brain into thinking it's seeing a three-dimensional image.

The 3D Roadshow will take place in nine cities across the UK, showing Full HD 3D videos and latest movie trailers. Panasonic will also be demonstrating the latest in its Neo PDP Full HD TV technology, and VIERA Cast, which enables the streaming of HD content from the internet onto the television screen.

Panasonic is the first company which makes products for the whole chain of 3D technology, from broadcast cameras and R&D facilities in Hollywood to 3D Blu-ray players for the living room.
Andrew Denham, Marketing Director at Panasonic UK said: "2010 will be the year that the 3D experience will be available in the living room, and Panasonic is at the forefront of these technological innovations. Our 3D plasma technology is the only one to provide 60 full frames per second for each eye, which is the best 3D technology currently available. The 3D Roadshow will demonstrate our commitment to continued innovation in this area, and will showcase the way these technologies will revolutionise the way we experience entertainment in the home - from movies to television to gaming."

The 3D Roadshow will be visiting the following places:

Grand Designs, NEC Birmingham: Friday 9th October to Sunday 11th October

The Bull Ring, Birmingham: Thursday 15th October to Sunday 18th October
