Another Internet Explorer remote execution bug emerges

Microsoft has warned of a new vulnerability in its Internet Explorer web browser that could allow hackers to execute code on your computer.

According to the security advisory, only Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 are affected.

"The vulnerability exists due to an invalid pointer reference being used within Internet Explorer. It is possible under certain conditions for the invalid pointer to be accessed after an object is deleted. In a specially-crafted attack, in attempting to access a freed object, Internet Explorer can be caused to allow remote code execution," said the advisory.

Microsoft recommends that consumers follow its Security at home instructions - turn on a firewall, apply all software updates and install anti-spyware and anti-virus software.

We recommend that you switch to a more secure browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
