Palm's handheld of de-Zire
Posted on 7 Oct 2002 at 12:38
Palm's new Zire PDA is officially on shop shelves today for a high street price of £90
As the common or garden variety handheld, Palm is tipping the fun side of handheld computing as much as the organisational benefits.
Within its 2Mb memory the device has standard Palm OS 4.1 apps: address book, date book, note pad and to-do list; and four games: Puzzle, Minehunt, Giraffe and Hardball.
While the memory offering is spartan, Palm claims it's enough to store 6,000 addresses, five years'-worth of appointments and more.
It also boasts a sleek new design, with only app-dedicated buttons (as opposed to four on the standard Palms).
Infra-red beaming is present and correct, along with the standard 160 x 160 res screen. The desktop software supports both Mac OS and Windows environments.
