UPDATED: Apple adds voice recording and photo storage to iPods

Apple has announced new features for its iPod range of portable music players, including voice recording and photo storage.
Voice recording is provided via a new Belkin Voice Recorder which plugs straight into the iPod and on a 40GB model can record up to 600 hours of audio. When the iPod is connected to a Mac or PC, recordings are automatically synced with iTunes (now also available for Windows) and stored on the computer. The voice recorder has an omnidirectional microphone and a speaker and works with both dockable iPods, the 20GB and 40GB models.
The Belkin iPod Memory Reader reads the five most common types of memory card - CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MemoryStick, SD and MMC - and enables the iPod to store images from a digital camera. On a Mac, iPhoto automatically recognises the iPod and allows users to transfer the images direct into its library.
Both the voice recorder and the card reader are available from the Apple Store, priced £39 and £89 respectively.
Both devices require the iPOd Software 2.1 Updater, which also provides the ability to sync On-The-Go playlists back to iTunes and a Music Quiz game which tests your knowledge of your own music library.
