Syncing Entourage; OmniWeb reads iPods; the future of PDAs

Apple's iSync is an incredibly useful piece of software, so long as you are happy to use Address Book for your contacts and iCal for your diary.
GoBetween from PocketMac is an iSync plugin that enables you to sync data from the Entourage component of Microsoft Office to and from .Mac and any iSync-supported device. The software costs $24.95 from www.pocketmac.net.
iPod owners can now deploy a Web browser to browse and download music from their player. Adam Engst has discovered that if you drag the iPod icon to an OmniWeb window you can browse the music library. Subsequently you can download tracks from the iPod to your Mac.
The OmniGroup has released another beta version, the seventh, of OmniWeb 5. Amongst the several fixes is support for Gmail, following last week's news that Google's email service will support Safari. OmniWeb 5 beta 7 can be downloaded from www.omnigroup.com/omniweb.
Handheld market watchers, Brighthand, have taken a look at the past, present and future of the PDA. It credits Apple with inventing the handheld and Palm with popularising it and concludes that following Sony's decision to withdraw its Cli?ange from everywhere but Japan the market will soon be left to just PalmOne and HP.
