UK games charts: Spidey still clings on to top spot
Posted on 28 Jul 2004 at 10:18
Like the sticky fellow he is, Spider-Man 2 has managed to hold onto this week's top spot in the ELSPA all-formats charts (compiled by ChartTrack), fighting back any nearby competition with relative ease.
The movie spin-off, which could be labelled GTA with superheroes, has reaped the plaudits and is definitely one of the greatest film licensed efforts in recent memory.
Places two, three and four fall to Driv3r, Shrek 2 and Athens 2004 respectively, while Need for Speed: Underground's budget re-release sees the street racer rev back into a coveted fifth position.
EA continues to dominate with regular franchise/licensed instalments like FIFA 2004, Tiger Wood's PGA Tour 2004, Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban and LOTR: Return of the King contributing to a total of nine EA games in the Top 20.
Overall, very little change then, thanks to a huge dearth in new game releases. To be honest, we can't see there being a wealth of movement next week either, with the glut of Summer biggies already out in the shops. You never know though - perhaps Army Men: Sarge's Heroes will make a surprise entry...
