UK games chart: Colin McRae's driving game rallies back
Posted on 26 Jan 2005 at 11:52
Superhero movie spin-off The Incredibles swaps places with FIFA 2005, moving up from four to three - this is the main change at the top of this week's ELSPA UK games chart.
Need For Speed: Underground 2 (now in its tenth week in the charts) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (in its thirteenth week) show their staying power and stay at the top of the file for another week. And Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 4 completes the top five.
The two major climbers to report this week are Colin McRae Rally 2005 and Rome: Total War, both at the lower end of the chart, however.
The Codemaster driving game - for PC, PS2, PSP and Xbox - moves back up to 16 from 24, in what is the game's thirteenth week in the charts. At the foot of the top-twenty, meanwhile, Activision's Rome: Total War - the PC strategy game - climbs up to 20 from 32, in its fifteenth week in the charts.
But without more ado, here is the all-format Top 20 in full (number of weeks in chart in brackets), for the week ending 22 January (full-price games):
1 Need For Speed: Underground 2 (10)
2 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (13)
3 The Incredibles (11)
4 FIFA 2005 (16)
5 Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (15)
6 Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (8)
7 Football Manager 2005 (12)
8 Call of Duty: Finest Hour (8)
9 Lord of The Rings - The Third Age (12)
10 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 (18)
11 Half-Life 2 (10)

Getting format specific, Football Manager 2005 is the best selling PC game for a second week. Over on the PS2, there is some jostling with Grand Theft Auto nudging back ahead of Need For Speed. For the Xbox, Need For Speed is also deposed from the top spot, this time by Halo 2.
The chart is compiled by ChartTrack.
