You may already use your Pocket PC as a personal MP3 player, but a set of powered speakers will give you the chance to fill the room with music rather than being restricted to using headphones.
About the size of an SLR camera and weighing around 460g, the new TS-3000 speakers from Power Traveller are designed with portability in mind. They're well constructed and come with a leather case. The four (supplied) AA batteries run for around 20-30 hours at moderate volume, or you can power them via the supplied USB cable.
It would be unreasonable to expect really high fidelity in such a small package, but the TS-3000s turned in an excellent overall performance, with a surprisingly rich, detailed sound. Some PDAs have a fairly low output level, making it impossible to get a room-filling volume from these speakers, but most Pocket PCs will give sufficient volume if you turn up the master volume control close to its maximum (the one in the status bar of your Today screen, not the one in Windows Media Player). The speakers have their own built-in volume control, which is more convenient to use than the Pocket PC's onscreen control, and there's a multicolour level meter if you feel like a bit of a light show, though thankfully this can be switched off.
