Our Rating
I've recently put together a small website for the band (www.roxxolid.co.uk) using Serif's excellent PagePlus program in web-publishing mode.
This book by Doug Addison was also useful, as it helps you to get your message across in a brisk, snappy style that avoids the irrelevant bloat that affects so many sites.
You'll find chapters devoted to the specific needs of professional services organisations, trades such as builders or plumbers, speciality products, artists, writers and performers and, finally, restaurants. It's principally about design and content rather than the mechanics, so if you need a book about how to write HTML, look elsewhere. Note that I put the Roxxolid site together without writing a line of HTML.
If you're thinking of creating a website for your small business, or if you already have one but it's a bit of a dog's breakfast, this book could help you sort it out and save you a few bob preventing you going off on the wrong track.
