Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T PCI review

Verdict:

Review Date: 21 Jul 2005

Price when reviewed: inc VAT

Reviewed By: Sasha Muller

Our Rating 5 stars out of 5

The USB version of the Nova-T is our current Best Buy digital TV card. We were keen to see how its PCI card cousin fared.

Installation was hassle-free, and tuning in the available radio and TV channels was done reasonably quickly by the nifty auto-scan program.

Once the card was up and running, it was identical to its USB cousin in almost every regard. Picture and sound quality was good, but we did notice some mild pixellation.

The software worked fine, but was a little fiddly to use and poorly laid out. An on-screen display mentioned what was currently on TV and what was up next, but chopped off the end of most program descriptions.

The Hauppauge is the best PCI TV tuner on test, but we still prefer the USB Avermedia.
